Astrid Buran Holan elected President of AES
Senior Advisor Astrid Buran Holan (PhD) of AquaOptima is elected President of the Aquacultural Engineering Society (AES). The organization works to promote networking and international exchange of knowledge among engineers who work with aquaculture.
– It is important to us in AquaOptima to be a part of initiatives that work to promote sharing of knowledge and that make knowledge available. This is how we develop the industry, says Buran Holan.
AES is important for the industry
She says that the job AES does to share publications, develop closer networks between professionals and create engagement related to professional events, is important when the industry is to grow further in a sustainable manner.
– I am dedicated to increasing the number of female engineers who work with aquaculture, and in this position, I am able to contribute in this work and show that it is possible for women to have important positions in the industry.
In addition, Buran Holan is positioned even closer to the agenda of the industry. This means she is able to secure that AquaOptima continues to be in the lead when the industry is developing and changing.
The duration of the position
Buran Holan will preside as President for 1 year, before she goes on to the role as past president.
